Executive Director at Development Authority of Clayton County
I am a seasoned Government Administration professional with direct experience at the local, county and state levels, and an expert in Economic Development. I help governments find success through focusing on investments and brand management over incentives. I work with governments to create policies that not only help businesses to grow and prosper, but also grow the whole community.
Economic Development is a three legged stool that requires building the tax base, training and retaining a diverse workforce, and investing in community assets. I have assisted in the planning and building of new homes, factories, roads and more. By focusing the conversation on community investments, I have been able to match numerous international, local, and start-up companies with the resources that they need to take advantage of growth opportunities and to overcome business impediments, while also helping communities meet their long term objectives.
In addition to traditional business development and retention activities, I have led cross departmental teams, developed City Master Plans, managed grants, stood in for Chief Executives, hosted international delegations, and much more. I work cross departmentally to ensure that all agents of the municipal government are aligned and focused on providing the best customer experience possible. This, in turn, builds more demand for the community and fosters positive manageable growth.
I am a fervent believer that Economic Development is Community Development, and thus, am a strong supporter of community service. I have a long history of service through volunteering with boards and commissions and I am currently the Vice Chair of the Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency and the Vice President for the Michigan Economic Developers Association.
